Summary of Experience:
Dr. Teetes presents over 24 years of experience in the tunnel engineering industry. This experience includes feasibility studies and planning, project management and procurement, risk management, alternative contract delivery methods, detailed analysis and design, and geotechnical site investigation planning and oversight. His technical areas of expertise include assessment and characterization of soil and rock behavior during tunnel excavation, 2D and 3D numerical analysis of underground structures, the design of ground support systems for tunnels and underground facilities, and layout and installation of geotechnical instrumentation systems. Dr. Teetes' experience encompasses a broad scope of projects for both the heavy civil construction and mining industries. The projects include water and wastewater infrastructure tunnels; underground hydroelectric power facilities; transportation tunnels for vehicular, rail and mass transit systems, and shafts and haulage drifts for large underground mining operations.

Onion Creek Wastewater Interceptor

In an effort to relieve aging wastewater infrastructure and eliminate sewage overflows into the surrounding waterways, the City of Austin is constructing a 42-inch wastewater pipeline that will serve as a key element of the planned wastewater infrastructure upgrades for the burgeoning southeast area of Austin. Cordova Electric Cooperative, Inc. operates a 1.25 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric facility located approximately 5 miles north of Cordova, Alaska. In December 2005, a powerhouse fire required the Humpback Creek facility to be taken offline. Read more

Calgary West Light Rail

The Calgary West Light Rail Transit alignment extends eight kilometers west from the current west end of 7th Avenue downtown to 69th Street S.W. and includes six stations. The design-build project includes 1.5 kilometers of elevated guideway structure between Shaw Millennium Park and the Bow Trail / Crowchild Trail interchange. Read more

Austin Clean Water Program

The Austin Clean Water Program (ACWP) was created in 2001 to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s order to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows from the City’s wastewater interceptor system. Read more

Lake Dorothy Hydroelectric

The Lake Dorothy Hydroelectric Project is being developed by Alaska Electric Light and Power (AEL&P) to meet Juneau, Alaska’s growing need for electricity. The project will add a level of reliability to the existing system and will help reduce the need for supplemental diesel generation. Read more

Cal Park Hill Tunnel

The Cal Park Hill Tunnel in Marin County, California is being rehabilitated in order to convert the collapsed historic railroad tunnel into a dual use recreation trail and commuter rail facility. Read more

Port of Miami Tunnel

The $1.6B Port of Miami Tunnel Project is being developed as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) using the finance-design-build-operate-maintain (DFBOM) or “concessionaire” project delivery model. Read more

Spencer Creek Bridge

The Spencer Creek Bridge Replacement project is one of the first design-build ground improvement contracts awarded in the State of Oregon. The project called for the replacement of the US 101 bridge over Spencer Creek requiring construction of two large bridge abutment embankments over soft liquefiable soils and installation of drilled shafts for the bridge abutment structure. University Link Light Rail, Contract U230 is a component of the 3.15-mi light rail extension that will connect downtown Seattle with the University of Washington campus. The project includes construction of 0.75 mi of twin tube metro tunnels and associated cross passages, excavation and support of the Capitol Hill Station structure, and excavation of a TBM retrieval shaft at the Pine Street Station. Plateau Creek Pinpeline Tunnels

Due to inadequate capacity and the need for increased reliability, the Ute Water Conservancy District proposed replacing the existing water supply pipeline from Jerry Creek Reservoir to the Ute Water Treatment Plant near Palisade, Colorado. Read more
