Summary of Experience:
Mr. Claassen is a skilled technical program manager with experience in project management, engineering design and construction of underground structures. He has participated in more than 35 tunnel design and construction projects. His experience includes work for owners, designers and contractors in soft-ground, rock and mixed-face conditions. He has worked on projects with machine-mined, drill-and-blast and hand-mined tunnels, and has significant experience with the Sequential Excavation Method (S.E.M. or N.A.T.M.) and various methods of tunnel waterproofing. Mr. Claassen’s experience also includes microtunneling and horizontal directional drilling. He has worked on all phases of tunnel design, from preliminary investigations and feasibility studies through final design, and from shaft or portal excavation to the construction of the final lining. His management experience includes large and/or high risk multidiscipline design and engineering projects with budgets in excess of $4 million.
