Project Description

Lachel & Associates, Inc. held primary responsibility for planning and interpreting all geology, rock mechanics, and soil mechanics investigations on this large regional sewer project which includes over 50 miles of tunnels, with up to 30 miles of tunnel greater than 30 ft. in diameter at depths of over 250 ft.

Scope of Services

Lachel's senior personnel designed all site investigation and laboratory testing techniques and were responsible for the interpretation of the resulting data, including geology, ground response to shafting and tunneling, groundwater inflow estimating and control, stand-up time, ground support requirements, and constructibility evaluations. Other Lachel personnel served as senior reviewers, project managers, and members of the Quality Assurance Review Board.
