Thousand Oaks Interceptor Project

Project Description
The Thousand Oaks Interceptor Project involves the geotechnical investigation of
about 7,700 feet of 21-inch minimum diameter sanitary sewer tunnel, of which 3,000
feet will be performed by microtunneling or small-diameter tunnel boring machine.
The tunnel will be excavated in heavily faulted, cavernous limestone that is located
in a recharge zone for a major regional aquifer.
Scope of Services
LACHEL & Associates, Inc. was responsible for specifying and directing the
exploratory geotechnical investigation. This included the coordination of the soil
boring locations, methodology, and review of laboratory analysis of the geotechnical
samples to recommend construction methods and costs.
