Project Description

LACHEL & Associates, Inc. (LFA) has been involved in the geotechnical instrumentation of at least four different sections of Baltimore's urban mass transportation and subway development.

Scope of Services

Beginning in 1977, and continuing intermittently through 1994, the company performed various tasks for both soil and rock monitoring systems. This included design of geotechnical instruments systems, supervision of instrument installation, monitoring of instrumentation systems, interpretation of instrumentation data and modification of procedures recommendations in response to instrumentation data.

The challenges involved in this project included urban construction, major water inflow, and highly variable rock conditions.
